Approach to Play Based Learning

Play based learning is the new and latest concept which is gaining popularity these days among parents. According to a research, play based learning is very helpful in enhancing the academic and developing learning outcomes of the children. It can also set up the child for success in 21st century by teaching them the relevant skills.
Play based learning is that in which children will be asked to play whole day and there will be various tasks assigned to them so that they can engage in activities that interest them the most. Through this way, the parents would be able to figure out the areas of interests of the child as well as children also get the opportunity to follow their interests.
By doing this, they learn to take the ownership of their work so that they could grow into confident individuals who take responsibility of things. In simple words, play based learning has the great focus on the process in comparison to the product along with personal and social skills too. Kids start to look for the best solutions for their problems.
We should let the child proper time and space to solve a problem as it develops their self sufficiency which is required at all stages in life. According to the research, the children who rise in this kind of atmosphere where playing is valued, they are able to understand the value of play and often provide best ideas during play.
They experience and enjoy the “Joy of learning” which help them to become lifelong learner. As children are naturally motivated to play, it builds on motivation by using play as a context for learning. In this process, children are allowed to explore and experiment, discover and solve the problems in imaginative and interesting ways.
This play based approach involves both child initiated and teacher supported learning as teacher encourages the children to improve learning and inquiry through interactions that is focused on stretching their thinking to higher levels. In the expert’s opinion, the children who are engaging in these quality play experiences are likely to have improved memory skills along with language development and also able to regulate their behavior.
